ZBE Chromira ProLab – Buffer Foam Rollers

One of the most critical areas of the Chromira ProLab is the SUB 2003 Buffer Assembly, where a series of precision foam rollers controls and transports the photographic material smoothly through the system.

The original roller assemblies include:

A – SUB 2060A – Foam Roller with notch, 36T gear

B – SUB 2060 – Foam Roller Assembly, 36T gear

C – SUB 2059A – Foam Roller Assembly, 42T & 36T gears

D – SUB 2059 – Foam Roller Assembly, 42T gear

After years of operation, the original foam can deteriorate, become rough, crack, lose its shape, or completely disintegrate—as clearly visible in these photos. Once this happens, reliable paper transport can become difficult and replacement or rebuilding of the rollers becomes necessary.

Keeping these older professional photographic machines operational often means going beyond ordinary maintenance: identifying obsolete components, understanding their original construction, and finding practical solutions to restore them.
